Blue Frog-shaped ‘Frog’
Date: c. 1897
Created: Japan
Medium: blue-glazed pottery
Dimensions:  9 x 8 cm.

This bright blue-glazed frog, a companion to the turtle above, is also designed to be a ‘frog’ used to hold flower stems in a container of water.  It is stamped on its underside with the word “Nippon” indicating that it was made in Japan and was possibly bought by the Harris’ on their tour of that country in 1897.
