Harris Family Bible

Country of Origin: Britain
Year: ca. 1867
Materials: Paper, ink, brass, and leather

The Harris Family belonged to the Anglican Church and were members of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Typical of Christian households, the family possessed a King James Bible. Family bibles typically had something about the family written in the front, or a family tree that would be added to as time went on. This one was a gift and has an inscription to Amelia Harris in the front. It says:

“Amelia Harris from Charles Williamson and Francis V. Wortley a small memento of many pleasant Sunday evenings spent by them at Eldon House during the years of 1866 and 1867. London C.W. June 1867”.
