Norwegian Beer Steins

Two wooden beer steins from Norway. The larger one has a fox design engraved on the lid. They are on a table covered in white cloth.
Beer steins from the Eldon House collection

Country of Origin: Norway
Year: ca. 1895
Materials: Wood

The Harris Family took a trip to Norway in 1895 where they acquired these wooden steins. The larger one was used as a pitcher to carry beer from larger barrels. The smaller one was used for drinking. On the lid of the cask is a dog carved in a traditional Scandinavian design. There is no evidence that the Harris Family used these items, but they were an interesting souvenir of their travels.
