Join Eldon House’s Grounds and Gardens Coordinator, Kendal Davidson, in Eldon House’s first virtual at home event! During the Grow-A-Long, participants will have the opportunity to purchase and pick-up a collection of seeds from the museum, take them home, plant them, and watch them grow! Follow along with Kendal Davidson to learn various skills involved with starting your own cutting garden. The monthly newsletter will cover topics such as: how to start seeds indoors, seedling care, pest and disease management, harvest tips, and guided activities that will utilize the flowers harvested. The newsletter will also cover Eldon House’s grounds and gardens history, each month showcasing some of the property’s key botanical moments spanning over 190 years!

Availability: 38 available.

  • Eldon House will provided the following supplies including seeds and the virtual monthly news letter.
    • The monthly news letter will be sent the first Friday of the month, April through October, 2025.
  • Participants must have the following supplies to participated in the Grow-A-Long.
    • Gardening implements (trowel and clippers)
    • An in ground gardening area of – at minimum – 1’x5’ (The more room, the more you’ll be able to grow)
    • If participants do not have access to an in ground gardening space , you will need at least 5 containers that measure – at minimum – 1.5’ diameter and 1’ depth (The more you have, the more you’ll be able to grow)
    • Whether growing in ground or in containers, the growing location must receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight a day
    • A small bag of soil – seed starting mix or potting soil
  • All participants are required to pick-up their seeds from Eldon House during our house of operation 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.: March to April: Thursday through Sunday
    • No refunds are permitted once seed have been pick-up by a participant.
