This is the third exhibit in a series developed to celebrate the 190th Anniversary of Eldon House and explores the transition of the site from a domestic space to a public one, starting with the donation of the 11-acre property and its accompanying buildings to the City of London in 1960. The exhibit includes sections on various phases of operations, from a time where a live-in caretaking couple lived in the servants’ quarters of the house, to the building of the IC, to listing some notable people who helped established the museum as well as taking a detailed glimpse at “Lassie” the Eldon House guard dog, who was donated to the City with the house.
