Join cultivation activist, Lorraine Johnson, in exploring the correlation between reconciliation and native plant gardening. We are all familiar with the dependance of monarch butterflies on milkweed. But, this is just one example of many crucial, co-evolved relationships between native plants and insects, birds, and other creatures. In this illustrated talk, Lorraine explores some on the little-known specialist relationships that exist between native plants and bees, beetles, wasps, ants, butterflies, moths, birds, and a myriad of other creatures we can, and need to support and protect in our gardens.
This specialty lecture would not be possible without financial support from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. Once again, we have been grateful to receive financial support from this granting program which allows us to grow our heritage garden at the museum and host free lectures for the public to promote native plant gardening, ecology, and more.
