The Harris Family travelled to the Middle East for both adventure and for religious pilgrimage. On the way they collected several small knickknacks to commemorate their travels. This is a small stone bowl has the inscription “Stone from the Dead Sea” carved along the sides. This shows that tourism and pilgrimage often took place in tandem.
