Written correspondence was important in the lives of Victorians and Edwardians. This embosser, which is comprised of painted iron, wooden handle and gilt trim, this tool embosses the words Eldon House, London, Canada West, onto paper. Used by the residents of Eldon House in their correspondence, this instrument was an essential part of a “writing set” made up of an ink blotter, writing implements, inkwell, seal and sealing wax and drying power (or Pounce).
