Victorians loved excessive decoration, and this banner is an example of opulence. It is meant to act as a furniture shield or wall hanging. It would cover the back side of a chair, or potentially hung on a wall. This item has a stitched back and heavy beading throughout. Botanical patterns are frequently featured in the Eldon House furniture collection.

The three Indigenous Nations that are neighbours to London are the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation; Oneida Nation of the Thames; and the Munsee-Delaware Nation who all continue to live as sovereign Nations with individual and unique languages, cultures, and customs.
