The Haws Company has been manufacturing watering cans since 1886, when founder John Haws decided to create a watering can “that is much easier to carry and tip, and at the same time being much cleaner, and more adapted for use than any other put before the public.” (Haws website) His design consisted of a longer spout giving more control to the gardener, and these watering cans became extremely popular. The Haws Company has continued to manufacture watering cans into the present day.
