Our yearlong celebration of domestic service continues with Elizabeth Ridolfo and Prof. Irina D. Mihalache speaking about the history of culinary culture in Canada. Elizabeth will also share her recent findings from Lucy Harris’ cookbook found in the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library. Cookbooks were often filled with not only culinary recipes but also household hints. Come prepared to make your very own home remedies on site, extracted from the recipes of Lucy Harris’ cookbook!
This workshop will take place in our Interpretive Centre and includes a presentation on the culinary history of Canada as well as a closer look at print materials such as ladies magazines and cookbooks. On display will be Lucy Harris' cookbook from which recipes will be extracted for guests to make on site as part of the workshop and take home.
